Artist Statement

I view and explore the world through the lens of patterns, which I believe serve as the foundation for human creativity. My work delves into these human-created patterns, drawing from the rich tapestry of history and cultural expression across continents.

Having lived in Europe, the Americas, and now Southeast Asia, my artistic journey is deeply influenced by diverse cultural experiences. As a Lithuanian-American artist, my heritage and personal history shape my perspective. Currently, I am captivated by the intricate beauty of Asian Batik, which I explore in my work.

In the past, such endeavors might have been criticized as cultural appropriation. However, today’s softened borders and increased travel accessibility allow for respectful cultural exchange. My work in Batik celebrates this interconnectedness and pays tribute to the patterns that unify us across cultures and time.

By blending traditional techniques with contemporary symbolism, I aim to create art that speaks to our shared humanity while honoring the unique patterns that define us. Through this fusion, I hope to contribute to a broader understanding and appreciation of the world's artistic heritage.
